I currently have 4GB 8500 G-Skill CL5 in my setup, everything is fine and running well but in CPUZ on the SPD tab it reports the max bandwidth: PC2-6400 (400 MHz) but reports the part number: F2-8500CL5-2GBPK

Is there any reason CPUZ reports the max bandwidth as 6400 (400)???

Like I said everything is clocked fine and running well.

CaNNoN.

I believe that CPU-z reads information from the SPD chip - this will only have latency settings etc for upto an FSB of 400MHz (PC6400, DDR800).

The memory itself will be rated to run at an FSB of 533MHz (PC8500, DDR1066).

Yeah ignore the SPD tab in CPU-z its more hassle than its worth, whats the other one (memory) say? If its running at 1066 it should say 533, DDR2 so its double this speed. If it still says 400 in there then you'll have to go into your BIOS and manually set the speed to 1066, its not a problem quite a few systems need this doing so dont worry about it

Yeh like I said, everything is clocked to what it says in my sig, just thought it strange that the SPD tab reported the mem as 6400 ram, still has the correct clock in the memory tab, Ram is slightly under clocked to 1032MHz so I can increase my cpu clock to 3.44GHz

If I remember right, CPUZ needs to be run as ADMIN in Vista to get the correct settings? Unless they have fixed that since I last used it... or maybe it was something else entirely lol. Check my old threads (first 2 or 3 for similar problem and advice given that solved the prob)
