Hi Folks
Just finished building my dream pc,bought the overclocked I7 overclocked to 4.6gh from overclockers.
system is running fine ,but have not bechmarked it yet,i have noticed that the ram is running at around 849 mhz even though the ram is 1600mhz,is this normal on overclocked bundles.
Also on the post screen it only says the chip it does not say the chip is running at 4.6 ghz just that its an I7 running at 3.2 ghz is this also normal, only if i go into the bios does it say overclock target is 4.6ghz.
Cheers folks

I found the easiest way to see your OC is just to stick CPU-Z or the likes on and look through there. Also, the ram speeds will be correct just using the multiplier I think.

The ram is DDR which is double data rate.

The ram is running twice as fast as the figure you're reading which means it's slightly overclocked to 1698Mhz.

If you're worried about the clock speed download CPU-Z and check there, I'm not sure if all post screens pick up overclocks or not.

dont forget you will need to run something like OCCT at the same time else CPU-Z wont give the true cpu speed as it will be in throttling mode, or whatever its called, wont it?

Yeah true Intel speedstep or whatever it's called may put it into power saving mode so it will underclock, although not sure if that setting will be enable on an overclocked bundle or not.

Download RealTemp and run the XS Bench... That'll tell you your overclock and temperatures with just 1 program. I have it putting my CPU and GPU temps on the windows task bar on start up so I can always monitor them.
