Now this might seem quite obvious looking at these figures that one would go for 1600 Mhz for a syatem with 12 Gig of ram but for some reason I have a perception that 1600 Mhz is unessesary for a system or won't be really optimised to take advantage of this speed and therefor the slower 1333 would be preferable and somewhat cheaper.

Normally I wouldn't question using 1600 Mhz Triple channel DDR3 ram as this has always been on there as standard in my Core I7 PC spec listings but thought I would throw this out there for some clarification.

I have Core I7 920 system pending which will include the following or comparable components around the same price depending if they are in stock. With a total budget max of £880.

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM

Asus P6T Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard ( this is currently out of stock, when will there be more in ?) I'm not entirly sure if I will require SLI but from what I heard the SE version has the Serial-ATA chip disabled)

Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel ( or equivilant)

Palit GeForce GTS 250 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card ( graphics card choice might change but don't really intend to go over £100 if I really don't have to)

Corsair H50-1 High-Performance CPU Watercooler ( Going to choose this over the Zalman CNPS10X Extreme Ultra Quiet, which I got for 20 cheaper, the Zalman I got v paypal and I also got a Coolermaster CM Storm Scout Case for £60 along with it which I'm keeping. Couldn't cancle the individual Zalman HSF without canceling order, so waited for delivery, spoke to courior, he said it wasn't insured for returning it back so had to accept it and send it back myself.) Hope the H50 will be worth the extra £20 over the Zalman.

OCZ StealthXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready Power Supply ( have this listed though open to suggestions for around one no more than £100 )

Main Drive for OS: Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM ( much of my 3D, applications music apps work is stored on external drives with just Adobe related software and genral utility stuff stored there which i can just reinstall)

LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Retail

Including the Cool Coolermaster Case Storm Scout and an additional Akasa All-In-One 21 Function Panel I have the total price comes to around £880 inc vat

Any thoughts on these components people ?

Oh the resaon for an I7 System is for 3D rendering with Maxon Cinema 4D R11 , Adobe products such as Adobe After Effects, and highend music production with Propellerheads Reason/Record. I occasionally play games such as Crysis and other FPS games ,

Re the spec, Id get a better HDD, something like a samsung F3 or WD Black, re the RAM, the higher speed stuff will make OCing easier but not overly effect performance no

Thanks I'll check them out.. a mate of mine asked if one of the overclocked bundles would be any better for value for a comparable system. I wasnt sure at the time so i'm open to any other possibilities.
