new... ish.. to intel, lil help? :)

iv had reasonable success in the past with ivy but now iv just got a haswell 4770k setup.

with my ram set to 1333 or 1600 i can run my cpu at 4.4ghz stable, but if i enable xmp to bring the ram up to its rated speed of 2400mhz the overclock falls over and crashes. having a bit of a google i found this comment..

"The higher speed you run your ram at the lower your CPU OC will be"

is this true or am i missing something in the settings?

thankies! :D

Yes pretty sure Haswell's memory controller only supports up to 1600mhz as standard, therefore running quicker RAM frequencies may limit the overclockability of the cpu. There will be a sweetspot of cpu and ram overclock.

Trying to find the that sweetspot may just come down to a case of trial and error. Your best bet is to set RAM to 1600Mhz, find your max stable cpu frequency and then gradually increase the speed of RAM until the system trips up.

16gb @2400mhz is hard,be sure to run latest bios

you should be able to manage 2133mhz though if you manually set the speed/voltages
