Is there any benefit to spending extra coin on the higher Mhz RAM for gaming? Is 4GB of RAM the optimal amount for gaming, or is it actually worth pushing the boat out on this score.

For thread purposes put the graphics card in the system nown as a GTX 480.

Depends on your Mobo and OS.
My ram is running at 1600MHz as my mobo can do that, also I run 12GB of mem, with an OS of Win 7 64Bit.

With 2 x GFX 480 in sli.

6gb @ 1600mhz will be fine for gaming in my opinion, I doubt you notice any performance difference.

Of course it has 6GB - I've been scouring around the net and in my haste to ask the question, posed the wrong one lol.

However, if I did choose to go for this system, I'm sure 6GB is more than enough at this time. Just often wondered what effect the amount of RAM, and it's speed, has on gaming.

Not worth it as you won't get any noticable performance gain in gaming and mostly everything else too.

There is no real world difference for gaming in with 1333Mhz and 1600 or even 1800 for that matter.

4GB is perfectly adequate for gaming, and I think that based on that 6GB will cope easily :p
