RAM swap error

I've just added some new RAM [3gb Corsair value VS1GB400C3] to an old machine to replace the 1GB PC 3200 of memory that was in there, cheap upgrade as the old PC is going to a friends kid.

Old Abit NF7-S v2.0 board with an athlon mobile chip is also in the PC.

For some reason the monitor is blank when the PC starts, I get no error beeps, it posts ok and I get the windows logo but then the monitor goes blank at the login screen.

I've made sure to reset the BIOS to the correct voltage and timings for the new memory.

A bit puzzled as it will boot up fine in Safe Mode.

Any advice much appreciated as always!

Strange one, what happens when you install only one stick of the new memory.

Is this using onboard GPU or external gpu.

Installing one stick at a time has the same error, the GPU is an old 9800 pro with the latest drivers.

Still a head scratcher, can't find much online about this either.
