i have no idea what to change about these, or how to change the timings in a s3/DS3 motherboard ?

as you can see, its not working to its optimum, if you raise the mhz of the ram at current settings, the system wont post on bootup,

OK - Mr 'My GeIL RAM is no good for overclocking'

You need to get it set up properly.

Go into the BIOS

At the main screen, press CTRL+F1 and the screen will flicker

Go into the MB Intelligent Tweaker and you will see that you now have about 7 or 8 extra options.

Oh - and while you're at it - put the DIMM Voltage to [+0.3] as that's 2.1V - rated voltage of your RAM. You're currently undervolting it!

They're only rated 4-4-4-12 to 800 so I'm not surprised it won't boot to 460 with those timings. Try 5-5-5-12 or 5-5-5-15.

It's very interesting what you are saying about the voltage as they should be just starting to get warmed up at 2.1V.

No, robust VGA is pants.

Have you set the PCIe bus set to 100 though? It shouldn't be messing about with the PCIe bus.

I have the same setup as you. Try knocking the RAM voltage up to +0.4 and set timings to 5-5-5-15 to start with and see how that goes. I have mine set to 4-4-5-15 and it survived Orthos Blend for 45 mins before i stopped it, so that's good enough for me :)

well im back on the laptop.

i booted the pc up with higher timings, only 2.8ghz, fan on full, pc fine.

i browsed here, then left it idle whilst having my tea.

i come back to find the monitor on standby (no gfx card output) and the pc just sitting at full fan speed

rebooted it and it wont even load the bios or flash the keyboard led's.

i really wish id bought a 32" lcd and an xbox 360 premium for the same money now.

even when it does work after i spend half an hour resetting the bios, windows doesnt, when i click links in IE nothing happens, then it locks the taskbar out then locks up, for no apparent reason.

its caused me nothing but grief and i only got it on friday, when it had to go to a specialist to have bits cut off the tuniq tower just to fit it to the cpu!!!

not happy at all!
