**** i put them lower if i can?

and what all this cas 2 stuff?

thx

The cas numbers are the time it takes in clock cycles of the CPU to perform certain tasks. The lower the number, the "snappier" (if you will) the turn around. However, be aware that you cant have really low timings ad very fast clock speeds, its a trade between the two. 2-2-2-5-T1 is a good set of timings for memory set at around 200 - 225MHZ DDR (400 - 450)

If you want frequency to be faster than that, you'll have to start over volting and raising the cas numbers.

Personally i found the best results came from having the cas numbers at just under stock, and then upping the clock.

Hope that helps :)

well ive jus oced my 3800x2 to 2.5ghz and the memory freq is at 208 do you think i could try for anything lower than 2 2 2 5 without more volts? or is it jus trial error, i notice in the 3800 x2 thread no one has lower than this

thx

EDIT** i set my ram to 333 for overclockin as i was told to, could i put it back to 400?

The best way to OC ram, is to change the settings by a very small amount, perhaps 1 or 2 timings by one division each, and then run prime for about half an hour orso. If you have no problems, tighten them some more. Do the same untill prime comes out with errors. Then slacken the timings or frequency a little and then you are stable.

Its up to you what you really want. I prefere good timings and a slight clock OC. Just keep fiddleing untill you find a nice fast configuration, then leave it at that.

If you ram isnt the Geil stuff that runs at CAS 1.5, then leave those timings alone, and up the fsb.

You already have the tightest timings available.

youi can but you wint be able to use those timings as it wont be stable at thet frequency.

Unless you have some smokin BH5

just been playing with those settings myself.

i found that my 3dmark2001 score went from 23851 using the 333 divider and cas2 2,2,5,1t at 204 mhz

to 24575 using the 400 divider at cas 2.5 3,3,6,1t at 245 mhz.

its a socket 754 amd64 3000 oc at 2450 mhz f.y.i. cruical ballistic memory

so in my case i reckon higher hertz and looser timings was better.
