RAM timings?

Just wondering how to set timings on RAM as i'm thinking to OC a bit. I'm using OCZ Gold 3x2GB DDR 12800 with 8-8-8-24 timings @ 1600 and in the BIOS auto 7-7-7-16 and when test with memtest86 v2.11 it shows under settings 10-11-11-24. So is that mean that's my max setting 10-11-11-24 to get it stable?

Sorry bout all the questions as still don't understand how to OC RAM even tho i;ve been reading and reading as well :rolleyes:

why do you even want to oc the ram.?

To run it faster? Same as ppl OC CPU isn't it?

Is getting the right timing not the same as OC RAM?

Sorry i'm just totally confused about RAM

to overclock the ram you dont need to change the timmings, its the frequency you try to increase (just like the cpu)

but people really only overclock there ram if its holding back the cpu from going higher......

when overclocking the ram you can either tighten the timmings, or loosen them to clock it to the max (to make it stable)

but i do belive its mostly just people that benchmark, whare every little counts, but you might find this interesting...
