Hi,

I'm lookingto upgrade some areas of my PC, I plan to buy the Asus Z77 Maximus V Extreme board and looking to fit 16GB of RAM.

I was looking for something low profile and quite liked the look of the Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-059-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517) more for air flow.

Having had a lot of RAM issues with past builds, I opted to use Corsair Vengeance in the last build which has been very stable just not a fan of the tacky large heat spreaders not that I can see them with the side of the case one.

Can anyone recommend the Patriot RAM?

ah. i couldnt tell ya exactly. im guessing its best to find a review that measures the height to see if it'll fit under the heatsink

Fitting under the heatsink won't be a problem, it was more wanting something that looked smart on the mobo and worked mainly.

I'm not a fan of the looks of the vengeance, even the low profile vengence looks tacky and cheap. I thought the Patriot looked quite smart but am concerned about BSOD issues as I have faced in the past with the XMS RAM on certain boards.

After trying different types of ram, apart from the heatsinks on my XMS3200 Pro's all other ram heatsinks are gimmicks (flashy LED's on top ftw) which often just make them incompatible with large cpu coolers, which is far more important than cooling something that doesn't need dedicated cooling.

I'll be going for the samsung green 8Gb. The black mambas look smart :) but it's difficult to see the ram in case anyway. The samsung seems to overclock quite well according to overclockers own info.
