Hi,

Below is the spec of my son's gaming computer. He tells me he needs more RAM. It currently has a single RAM stick (It doesn't appear to be anything special) and a 2 slot motherboard.

Could someone suggest the best option for a RAM upgrade. I'm assuming 2 x 16GB, but I'm not sure on the best speed for the motherboard?

500W ATV Pro 80plus Certified Power Supply
ASUS Intel PRIME B460M-K Micro-ATX Motherboard
Intel Hex Core i5 10400F Comet Lake Processor - 6/12 Cores/Threads, 2.9GHz-4.3GHz Turbo, 12MB Cache
16GB 2666MHz DDR4 (1x16GB) - Major Brand
4GB GeForce® GTX 1650 SUPER Graphics Card
256 GB 2.5" SATA III SSD
1TB SATA III 6GB/s 7200rpm 64MB Cache 8ms

Thanks in advance

Your I5 CPU is limited to 2666mhz memory on the b460 motherboard so try to source a similar stick of 16gb so it then can run in dual channel mode or get 2 x 16gb of 2666MHz

1 stick of ram is going to be killing the performance.

Get another 16GB of similar ram or buy a new kit

If you plan to buy just 1 more stick, I'd check if you have a generic one or an XMP stick, you don't want to mix the two types.
