Hi A Build I did 18 months or so ago

I have the following CPU, Motherboard & Memory

Intel i5 760, S1156, Lynnfield Quad Core, 2.8 GHz, 8MB Cache, Retail
Asus P7P55D-E LX Intel P55 Express 1156 Motherboard
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered

Yes I know 1st Gen i5 CPU

Full spec of the RAM i have is:
Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Dominator Memory
2 x 2GB Kit
PC3-12800
CL9 (9-9-9-24)
1.65V

Have 2 slots free on the motherboard but i have the old CPU fan is sticking over the first memory slot (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler "AC-FREEZER7-PRO-REV2") so looks like i will need Low Profile Memory unless I change the CPU Fan but dont really want to do that

I have seen this: RAM on OC.co.uk

but im not sure if this would be ok? due to the voltage difference as im running 1.65v and this is 1.5v I could either overclock the new or underclock my existing ram

Advise Please and if you can find anything better suited
Thanks in advance budget is around £40

Yea I did think about that angle just replace my existing 2 with 2x8Gb
Thanks VAULSEY

But way to pricey in my eyes and my wallet for now..... best thing i have come up with is

I Buy this:
CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 - 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC, CAS 9-9-9-24, XMP, DHX, 1.65V
I have found it on offer for £29.99 Inc VAT normally around the £50 mark so a good buy
and then replace my CPU FAN to one that does not over lap the memory banks
so i get my 12Gb of RAM target and just about around my budget of the £40 - £50 mark

Just checked out and the CPU fan i have is
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (AC-FREEZER7-PRO-REV2)

And just seen here that it can be mounted any way round in the case seehere

So may just need to juggle the air flow around and maybe get an Extra Case Fan?

do you specifically want 16gb of ram? what do you use the comp for? if your only gaming and doing light pictures, video editing there really isn't any need to go more than 8gb of ram tbh.

personally i would sell the 4gb of ram and buy 2x4gb sticks

I was looking at getting that Dominator RAM for my new build too. And also considering getting 16GB.

At this price, I cant help but want 16Gb. Even if it it overkill for gaming, It will certainly be future proofed.

Can anyone tell us how well this RAM performs too? Is it a good overclocker, for example.

Thanks for the input guys

Well my current Dominator 2x 2Gb (4Gb) is pretty sweet in my eyes yea I have overclocked it safley and stable too but I have 3 pre set profiles for overclocking if i need to
Mostly I run my CPU, Video & Ram at stock speeds, but if im gaming then a quick reboot and set my pre configuerd gaming overclocked profile this is about 70% of how much my system can be overclocked and is 100% stable i do have a 3rd one funny enough i called it Crazy Overclocked only ever tried it a few times TBH not stable enough once the temp reaches above 80..... this take's about 30 mins of heavy gaming then falls over - bet if I water cooled it all it would stick it out.

Think Im gonna get the 2x4Gb to go with my current 2x 2Gb make 12Gb and repoint my CPU fan in a different angle then get that extra case fan....total upgrade cost wilth delivery £40.26

not bad
