Hello. I have 2 free RAM slots available and would like a gig or two more RAM.

I currently have:
Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR PC4000 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit

I want 1-2 more GBs of RAM fairly cheap that are compatable with my current setup.

Motherboard: Asus A8N-E
CPU: AMD 3500+
gfx: GeForce 6600

Ideal would be RAM that I could use in an upgraded PC in the future (so 1x2GB stick would be perfect) but I don't know what's the most compatable with my current setup. Perhaps a cheap 1GB (2x512MB/1x1GB options) and a more expensive (2x2GB/1x2GB/2x1GB options) would be helpful for compare and contrast. I have no upper limit on my budget but as this is only RAM for an upgrade i'd prefer cheap.

Your mobo supports upto DDR 400. You arnt realistically going to upgrade with this memory. DDR2 has been around for some years and DDR3 now widely available, if you are considering upgrading - it may be a wiser choice to get a mobo that supports this.
Having said that - you could buy 2 sticks of DDR 400 2x512MB - more than this wont really be useful with an aging computer.
