Hi all, I've got a Samsung NC10 which has 1GB of RAM in currently and I'm looking to upgrade this to 2GB (which is the max for this machine I understand!)

My question is, according to Wikipedia...... "NC10 may be equipped with DDR2 667 or 800 MHz, but 945GSE GMCH supports DDR2 400/533 MHz only, so there is no reason to install memory faster than 533 MHz (PC2-4200). [4]Internally, the NC10 has one slot for memory accepting memory modules up to 2 GB."

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks...

Hi, I've got the same netbook and have upgraded mine to 2Gb.
You are right in thinking it only has one memory slot and the maximum is 2Gb.

I bought 2Gb of PC2-6400 (which was the same price as PC2-5300 at the time) and according to CPU-Z it is running at 266MHz , which I assume equates to 533MHz (PC2-4200).

Thanks for the confirmation!

Can I just ask though, has the extra RAM made much of a difference in the day to day browsing etc? Mine seems to really drag if you have more than one window open!

Defo saw an improvement going from 1 to 2 gig. Have also installed Win7 pro on mine.

Another upgrade I tried was using a 40Gb SSD, but it wasn't any faster than the standard mechanical hard-disk as the bottleneck on these netbooks is the Atom processor.

Cheers :)

(edit: my WEI for "memory operations per second" is 4.5, if that helps)

Same here, whacked a 2GB stick in mine straight away and the performance boost was noticeable. Cost me £13 for the upgrade and allowed me to run wow on lowest settings at around 15fps. At the moment I can play eve on low (with rubbishy fps) whilst voice chatting on skype which wasn't possible with just 1GB.

Thanks guys - decided to go for it as its getting me down with it being so sluggish! :)

I assume its a simple process of unscrewing the panel on the bottom, pull out the 1GB stick, shove the new one in its place and boot up??
