Hi, wondering if you can help. My board takes a max 24GB RAM, at the moment I have 6GB but I would like to increase it for enhanced performance. Is it worth upgrading to 16GB RAM? I realise I'd have to take out the RAM I already have for compatibility. Presumably programs like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for image editing wouldn't need more than 16 anyway.

Which RAM to buy as well please?

For best performance you’ll want a triple channel kit in that. From memory I think I used to run 2 kits of geil black dragon in my old board to make it 24gb.

For your usage there is negligible difference from running single/dual/triple channel. That being said I would go for the cheapest 2x 8Gb sticks of DDR3

You could get 3x 8GB for 24GB and use say 5GB as a RAM disk and locate Lightroom and Photoshop's cache on it which will help to keep things nice and snappy. I also hope you're running them on a SSD.

I think due to the age of the PC, it wont take 8gb modules. Mine only took 4gb Dimms. it will have 6 ram slots. do better to look for 3x4gb 2nd hand. or but 2x4gb and 1x4gb giving you 18gb total
