In short I hav a Asus board PQ5-E, with 4 gig of ram... thats 2x2 sticks total of 4 gig.... I want to add some more... Can I just buy 1 stick of say 6 gig and put it in another slot so that I would hav 2x2x6 total of 10 gig?

I thought it might help with Cliffs of Dover....

any help please...

You would be better off running 2 more sticks of 2GB - dual channel - 8GB total. This would still be more memory than you would ever need for general gaming (plus - i've never seen a single strip of 6GB DDR2 memeory and you can only install 4GB maximum strip in any one slot on the P5Q-E.).

I don't know the game you're talking about but i suspect that a gfx card or CPU upgrade would be more beneficial?

What's the rest of your spec?

Thnx for the reply...

I have just bought a Q9650 form the members market
.. so full spec is

Asus PQ5-e
Q9650
OCZ gold 4 gig
XFX 4980

That's a tidy spec you have and prime for clocking...

Just found the game spec:

•PROCESSOR: Pentium® Dual-Core 2.0GHz or Athlon™ X2 3800+ (Intel Core i5 2.66GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 2.6GHz recommended)
•RAM: 2GB (4GB recommended)
•VIDEO CARD: DirectX® 9.0c compliant, 512Mb Video Card (1GB DirectX® 10 recommended) - See supported List*

Personally i would clock the CPU and gfx card - as this would have more of an impact than extra memory.

You could probably get 3.6+ out of your CPU and that combined with a clock on your gfx should give you a tidy boost.

EDIT: If you haven't got a decent third party CPU cooler - you could be better of spending your money on one of those and getting the best possible clock out of the Q9650 (i'm of course assuming it's not clocked already...)

thnx again... I have heard that some of the Big I7 guys are havin probs with this game.. Heard there is a patch due to help the games performance... Hope it works... I will see how the game runs after the patch before I decide to OC or to go with some sort of upgrade...

It probably is due to crappy code - but the recommended CPU spec is substantial but your Q9650 clocked should be more than man enough for the job.

Good luck with it.

Heard I would be wasting time with the extra ram any way, I be leave the game is only 32 bit, and from what I have been told the game will only use 3 gig... wheather this is correct or not... I will wait till I drop the new core in sometime over the Bank Holiday week end...

thnx Plec...
