Hello All,

Im looking for a ram upgrade for my motherboard and wondered what was the best value for money upgrade. Im looking to go to 8GB... not wanting to spend a lot but options would be good.

I do a lot of rendering in 3D applications / photoshop etc and noticed last night that I had no spare memory left.

I currently have this:

OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 Dual Channel (OCZ2G10664GK)

Running Windows 7 64 Bit.

Thanks for your help!

Thats a good option... from looking around though it looks like DDR2 ram is expensive! £50 for 4 GB...

Do I have to buy the same brand / speed as my OCZ stuff?

You need DDR2 PC2-8500 (1066mhz) otherwise if you used PC2-6400, then the PC2 8500 would drop to match the lower speed.

Even on the bay DDR2 is darn expensive, just had a look, there two individual sticks OCZ DDR2 PC2-10666 listed there, quite reasonable.

Have a look at Members Market, you usually see DDR2 for sell there.

He can't access the members market. Not enough posts etc.

In the past I've been bothered about matching RAM but I think in reality you'll get a benefit from the extra RAM and not really lose much from dropping speeds if you had to use 800MHz.

No, but I certainly wouldn't post your email details here, but you may be able to enable Trust, can't remember whether it's restricted until a certain number of posts.

And mentioning competitors or giving links to them is taboo , & will incur the wrath of mod & you will get an infraction or a ban.:p

Ben Cole; Thought it was 50 posts for some reason?:o
