Currently got PC2700 1GB RAM. Rest of my system is in my sig.

Now, I aint very up-to-date with RAM in all its specialities so I was wondering what the best type of RAM for my system would be?

It says it can can teak up to 400MHz speed RAM which I assume is PC4000?

Found this RAM on the crucial website (Always bought from them). Any good?

Firstly if you're not overclocking you want PC3200 which is 400Mhz. on the AMD64 platform the benefit of overclocking the RAM is minimal, PC3200 at tight timings will give excellent performance.

PC4000 is 500mhz and is for overclockers, and as said, isn't really worth it on A64 systems.

Don't touch that Ballistix, its god awful RAM, the 1Gb modules die in a matter of months (as many of us have found out, including myself), so I'd stay clear of the whole range.

If you're not overclocking and on a limited budget then Geil Value RAM is excellent, if you're not a big gamer go for a 2x512mb kit> However, looking at your graphics card you probably will be gaming be so then you'd be looking at 2GB kits:

GSkilL ZX PC3200 2x1GB
Corsair 3500ll 2x1GB

Those are both very nice modules, with tight timings, much better than Crucials offering. If they are a little too expensive the Geil Value and OcUK Value 2x1Gb kits are cheaper, with slacker timings.

Lol just to make sure.....

OcUK, I aint gonna buy the RAM from crucial seeing as no one likes their RAM so you'll be about £150 better off when I buy it :p

LOL,

m8, it does not work like that. I'd edit out that link before the dogs are set on you :D

PC3200 is 400MHz effective, PC4000's 500MHz. I'd recommend reading this good guides here & here :)

... oh & this :D

EDIT: Ignore me... just seen the post's (& link's) been here for a couple of days now :o But, get some RAM with tight timings. You'll see better results & some PC3200's can be overclocked like crazy.
