RAM upgrade

Hi i'm relatively poor at all this computer stuff but i'm looking to upgrade my RAM to 3/4gb from 2gb to see me over until next year where i'll be buying a whole new PC.

Mobo is a ConroeXFire-eSATA2

Was wondering what a good cheap RAM upgrade would be, I saw

Unless you have a 64-bit OS, 4gb of ram is useless. With 32bit you will only see 3.5gb - GPU ram. So say you have 512 GPU ram, you would only see 3GB RAM .
