RAM usage goes to 80% in some games

I have 4GB ram, of which 80% is used when playing BF3. Would I benefit much from a RAM upgrade to say 8GB?

Or does it make little difference what percentage is used so long as it's under 100%?

Thanks

If you're not hitting 100% then it's not worth it.

I think most 32 bit applications are restricted to using a maximum of 2GB of RAM.

I would personally say that you'd experience an all round better user experience from going to 8GB of RAM, but 16GB would be the better option since RAM is so cheap.

It might not be necessary, but usage patterns change with more RAM I've found.

Please, stop spreading non-sense. 16gb of RAM is not necessary AT ALL. 8gb is the sweet spot and is still quite an overkill for gaming and general PC usage.

I noticed a big improvement moving up from 4gb. Not in the apps themselves but definitely moving between apps, especially out of games and back to the desktop - it stopped the frustrating paging and disk thrashing I would sometimes get.. I've got 12gb which is unnessasery but the price of the ram made it the obvious choice (I just bough another 8gb for 30 odd quid). So yeah, I think 4 isn't enough these days, but 6-8 is perfect for most people
