Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on directing me.

Use to be that when I booted up, RAM usage was 40% (of my 16GB) with just background, Skype, Task manager and HWinfo64 loaded up.

Since updating W10 (Home) to latest version, My RAM seems to have jumped to being 55% and I am now running into 90% usage when my usual stuff is running.

I have checked under startup and nothing seems amiss, I have looked uner resource manager but many again, nothing jumps out at me.

I know Chrome services start on bootup but that was always the case. It is only recently that I am "missing" 1.5GB - 2GB of RAM. Something is running or sitting in the background and I am not sure what.

I am happy to fiddle around under task manager and services and resource manager etc but not sure I have seen anything so looking for other ideas on finding the culprit. I could try and start in safe mode and see if that helps but not sure what that would achieve so please fire away.

TIA

Hope that is a start

A trading platform. But it was always there. Even if you take out that and Chrome, it comes back down to at least 50% on startup whereas it used to be 40%.

With everything working, it would usually top out at 70% with some Chrome tabs open.

The difference between the 40% and the 55% is what I am concerned about as apart from those two applications, nothing else jumps out.

The only two things of note really have been the Windows update to 20H2 and a skype update around the same time. My concern is is running something in the background from that and I cannot find it.

And just like that, it seems to have resolved itself. I will attach three shots of my PC at startup with only Skype and Task manager loaded, then with Chrome and then with the JAVA platform running. Huge difference. It started at 22% and then as I was preparing to send screen shot, Microsoft Telemetry started up and it shot up to 30% usage which is approximately when the first shot happened.

The second shot shows with Chrome open.

The third shot is with the Java trading platform open. Huge difference between what I sent yesterday and today. Baffled. Relieved but baffled. Anyway, hopefully problem resolved by seeming divine intervention.
