Ramadan Mubarak 2026

Ramadan Mubarak :D

It seems to come round faster every year and this year our fasts will get longer. I start tomorrow.

Ramadan mubarak!
Went into this one thinking that the 12 hour fasts would be quite easy in comparison to the 18 hours in summer, and it is but still needs some adjustment!

I find sleeping to be an issue as I've got to do the school run.

5:10. Wake up, eat, pray.
6:00. Try to sleep
8:00. School run.
16:00. Gym
17:30. Open Fast

So unless I sleep at 9 next week, im gonna be shagged.

If it's not inappropriate could someone explain how the fasting works? Is it just between certain daylight hours?

It's Not inappropriate nor is any question with genuine intent about Islam.

We fast from sunrise to sunset. No water, no food of course, no medication, no intercourse or anything sexual.

It really gives you a sense of what is important and another thing that isn't often mentioned you end up realising how much time you really have in a day.

I find myself more productive. Less distractions. And you get this belief you can accomplish anything.

Thanks. I'm surprised at the medication, I assume there are exceptions? I think the only thing I would really struggle with is the water fast.

Yes if you have medical conditions such as diabetes or pregnancy or are generally unwell or elderly you do not need to fast.

Also of course if your insane or mentally unwell you do not need to keep it (my cousin is feigning autism as an excuse but really he can't quit fags )

I don't think it's too difficult, a lot of it is in the mind. Hence me saying it strengthens you mentally. But doing it 30 days in a row can get to you, lack of sleep is the hardest part for me.

I find myself more and more intrigued by the concept of Ramadan. Being more strict about my diet as I get older, abstaining from alcohol for long periods, I really like the idea of this kind of self-discipline and the mental fortitude it takes. In a society where we are constantly bombarded with adverts telling us to WE HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME, fasting for a month is quite the achievement.

Question : Would it be inappropriate to observe Ramadan as a non-muslim?
