I did this test for some1 else, just to show the camera quality in different modes.

Conditions: Daylight
Position: Portrait
Distance: ~1meter away

note: the above is zoomed to about 250% of the original. And the auto isn't the worst but not really ideal!!

As you can see, the Portrait in this case is the best (apart from the reflection from the flash)! only topping that is my user defined settings!

You do have to play around with it till you get the best result.
 
Is there any chance of getting the original picture to compare? 250 is a nice number but it means nothing to my feeble mind :p
 
Did you use the macro setting?

edit now I get it you have taken various photos at differing settings. Macro (eg 'close up') Shouldnt be used for standard shots, night shots are going to be blured because of movement and sport for fast moving objects. Other than that the portrait, landscape, auto and user defined tests are useful.:)

Why does landscape look so yellow - wierd!
