So I re flashed my rampage v extreme x99 bios using asus's ezflash2 and correct bios file. I was having some boot issues I thought it might fix.

It flashed correctly and said bios flash complete. System restarted and posted fine but went straight into a screen saying

"Bios is updating".
"Do not shut down or reset the system to prevent system boot up failure"

Was sat on that screen for 1 hour doing nothing so I shut it down. I then used the bios flashback via USB on the back which flashed correctly and the bios reset and posts. But I am still getting the same message and it won't go away.

I am tempted to flash an earlier version. I have flashed the bios before with no problems. I also set the system to default and ensured it was stable prior to flashing.

I am really stumped as it just stays on this screen and won't do anything else. I would have thought a sub flashback the flash the whole system and remove this message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks :).

try an earlier version see what happens

if worst comes to the worst you can pull out/replace the bios chip for a tenner

Thanks very much :), tried an earlier version 1103 and it works perfectly now. For some reason the board didn't like the newer updates, I tried the newest and second from that and same message. Then the 3rd newest and it worked fine.

Was getting worried as all my watercooling bits will be arriving in a couple of days. Can now relax.

There is also another problem I encountered today. My mobo won't change any of it DRAM voltages. It is stuck on 1.184v. Manual setting of 1.35v does nothing and my RAM will only do 2133mhz because of it or I get code 53 and have to safe boot back to 2133mhz. RAM is fine.

My friend had this problem and a bios update cured it but I can't update to anything newer for my reasons above. :(.

Have you tried flashing the backup bios - bios 2? with the latest bios. Might be worth a try. I always update my bios from within the bios, and so far no problems.

Tried again today with 1304 I think and 1502. Both bios chips gave the same error with ezflash2 and bios usb flashback. Only bios version 1103 worked correctly without giving me the update message.
