Hi,

I have an Asrock Extreme4 Z68 motherboard. My case has 4 front USB ports, so I need two cables connecting to the two USB ports inside the motherboard. Unfortunately, I also want to install my card reader which requires a USB port from my motherboard, I need 3 USB ports on my motherboard but only have 2. Is there anything I can do about this? or would I have to lose 2 USB ports on the front of my case? Can I buy some sort of splitter?

Thanks

You can pick up a USB hub for a couple of quid, they usually do a 4 way split. Last one I got was about 4 years ago and cost £3

You can get USB hubs that use only one connection to the PC but give you another 4 external connections - they come in 2 flavors one is powered (external brick) and is needed for some devices that won't work on unpowered hubs. They aren't as fast as having extra ports on a PCI card if your trying to use several devices off them at the same time but for most purposes thats not a problem.

A hub is external? I have plenty of external USB slots, it's inside, that is the problem. Anyway, I found another USB header on the motherboard! So I am ok now. Please see my other thread as I am having problems with my USB card reader.
