Hi all,

I left my surface pro on my roof last week and decided to drive off. The pro is ruined as you would expect.

I am trying to recover files of the SSD which is generally intact.

I assume i know the awnser but thought i would ask

I bought a caddy for it, and have it plugged into it, however it instantly starts to get very very hot and the pc will not recognize it.

I assume that the end of that. No amount of sending it to specialists etc will help?

cheers
Ross

Can you leave the caddy case off and point a fan at it to help keep it cool whilst you get your data off of it?

Highly doubt a fan will cool what's obviously a damaged SSD, some electronic component is shorting or broken. You can try a specialist and see what they say.
