Random Artifacting on HD5850

Seems I may have an issue with my XFX HD5850 in my new OCUK pre-built system though currently it appears to be intermittent???

Every now and again when I boot in to Windows I'm getting corrupt graphics on Rocket Dock icons and the back ground image. 9 times out of 10 if I reboot the PC all is well. This has happened on the Catalyst 10.10 and the new 10.11 drivers and I've followed the usual procedure of deleting all drivers via the control panel then booting into safe mode and running driver sweeper to clear out any remnants left behind and then install new drivers. Thing is when the artifacting doesn't appear all my games play fine with no corruption or slow down etc

So do you think my card is possibly faulty or any idea what the problem could be? The card is at stock speeds and temps seem to be fine as is currently idle at 30-32c and under load about 68c. Next time it happens I'll try to catch a picture and upload.

I would overclock the memory a little, then the gpu to see if you can exacerbate the symptoms.

I would reseat the graphics card too.

have you tried older drivers, 10.4 or 10.5.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Have already reseated card during swapping out my CPU cooler for a Akasa Venom yesterday but I'll try an older driver and give the gentle overclock a go tonight when I get home from work.

Any recommended settings to try for the overclock as a test (bit of a noob with overclocking)?

Memory is that sensitive that if its on the edge an extra 25mhz will push it over. 5850 memory starts at 1000mhz. I dont know what boards now are coming with, but reference ones were getting 1150+ on stock volts.

5850s GPU starts at 725mhz and 1.087V.
They should do >800mhz before needing more volts.
