Random black/orange screen

So i just purchased a new gpu, MSI ATI Radeon HD 6850 and since installing it my display will randomly turn off and display nothing but a black, sometimes orange screen. Also random restarts.

My first thought is that it would be my power supply causing this as its only a 500w and the graphics cards minimum is 500 but i would like to be 100% sure before i go and purchase a new one.

What are your thoughts?

Have you got someone who can lend you a better PSU? What brand is your PSU?

500w should be fine for a 6850 mate, as long as it's a decent brand. What brand is it? I used to run a GTX570 on a 550w psu just to give you an idea. What spec is the rest of your rig? Have you overclocked your CPU?

OCZ 500W StealthXStream i believe is my psu.

I have unlocked my CPU cores.

AMD Phenom II X4 B50 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
8gb ram

Still no harm in testing with a known, good psu.

That PSU would be fine for that rig. As said above, no harm in trying a different PSU, but don't buy one, have you got a friend who can lend you his? Or try your graphics card in a mates rig?
