Random Black Screen Issue

Hi Guys.

Hope I am posting this in the correct place.... I have recently built my very first gaming PC (see sig) and everything is going fine except I am suffering from random black screens where the PC becomes unresponsive. It seems to happen when I am not stressing the PC i.e. web browsing. When I reset the system everything goes back to normal again. Some days it doesn't even happen.

I have no idea what could be causing the issue. Any thoughts?

Heard of a lot of black screen issues with 290 cards, and they are all GPU related

I also heard of varies "fixes". Different GPUdrivers/raising voltage on GPU/reducing Memory Speed on GPU.

All the "fixes" seem to just be a cover up for actual faulty memory/memory controller on the GPU itself.

Never happened in game yet which is weird
 
OK so it's definitely gonna be the GPU that's the problem? It's running games with no problem. Plus when I restart it works again straight away. Don't want to RMA for it to be another issue......hmmm decisions decisions

its the idle clocks probably,they have atleast three or four clock profiles and it switches inbetween them depending on gpu loads

idk how you go about curing it,might be quicker/easier rma'ing for another
