Random Black Screen

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help out. I am currently waiting for an RMA and running on the integrated gpu on skylake. I get these random black screens - no matter what I do - game, desktop, app the monitor would turn completely black for a second or two and then come back. This sometimes happens once a day sometimes 10x in an hour? I had googled for similar problems but nothing that would fix it for me. Even during typing this it happened like 4 times.

Any suggestions of what I could try on this as it`s pretty annoying?

Sounds driver related.

Grab a spare drive, fresh install and see if you get it on that. If you don't, then its probably driver related and up to you whether you want to go fresh install or wait for the new GPU and just disable igpu.

I assume you tried a clean install of drivers and removal of the discrete card drivers?

Yes that`s what I thought initially. I had removed all AMD drivers with their tool from amd.com so i can`t see any running at all and it still does it. Let`s assume I will do a clean install and it will continue happening - what other avenues are there to check?

If it continued to happen i would look at trying a different video output port of the Mobo if it has one. Different wire/monitor, it is unlikely that you wont have noticed a loose or intermittent connection from PC to monitor but still possible.

I do feel that this is software related as this is the second time I am waiting on the gpu rma and the first time I waited over 3 weeks to come and was on integrated gpu without any problems. new card was faulty again, took it out and here come the flickering / black screens..weird I say at least

What OS are you on?

I have seen similar issues when tabbing between full screen games and windows due to windows aero. I cant remember the cause of the problem but it stopped having the issue when i switched some display settings off in windows. I'll have a google based on what i can remember and see if anything comes up.
