ive been getting this every so often, like every couple of days now... it says hardware or software... well that narrows its down:rolleyes:

i just wondered if anyone had any experience with this?

Is the pc which is Bluescreening the one in your sig!
If yes you could have an unstable overclock or faulty memory, try running mem test and put back to stock.

what batch is the cpu from and what volages are you running and slightly off the point why did you buy a 940 when you could have got a 920 if your only going to overclock that much?

Have you enabled turbo or c1e or speedstep?

all temps fine, infact quite cold because of the weather so im pretty sure thats not an issue....

edit: for example my cpu is running between 17-19C.

If you click on additional technical information does it give any useful info?

doh... didnt notice that...

Although we know the problem is caused by a hardware component, the error report does not contain enough information to tell us the specific component. It is likely that the problem is being caused by one of the following computer components:

Random Access Memory (RAM)
System board
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Power supply

nightmare.

it was built by OCuk so i have nothing apart from the processor inside, so im not sure how to find out what batch its from?

BLCK 166

vcore 1.19v

edit: DRAM BUS 1.64

DRAM core 1.25

and i havent had it long and im still learning so i havent changed the overclock yet, it came at 3.66 from OCuk..

i havent enabled either.. i dont get it but one every 3 odd days its not a very common occurance..i suppose im going to have to run some more tests though.

1.19 is quite low for that overclock. I would move it up to about 1.25 or 1.3v thats probably why! Just run prime95 before you do that and keep it running until it crahes, then if it does crash, raise the voltage on the vcore.

hmm.. just went to change the cpu voltage but it says 1.22500 in turboV?.. but then says vcore 1.19 in the hardware monitor?

TurboV says:

BCLK 166

CPU Voltage: 1.22500

Dram Bus Voltage 1.64

QPI/DRAM Core Volt 1.25000

im a relative noob so any helps appreciated.

Everything is relative :). You target a voltage in the bios, and your Motherboard and PSU get you as close to that as is possible. But of course cheap sensors on motherboards don't measure exact absolute voltages so I would not worry too much about the difference in what you are setting and reading.

It will be an unstable overclock.

I doubt OcUK have enough time to do a through test like some enthusiasts on here.

Firstly let's check the memory.

Grab this program

hcidesign.com/memtest/

Test it for at least half an hour it runs by it's self.

If that passes than you need to work on the CPU by perhaps putting a few volts through it. There is a chance you may have to tinker with the MB voltages through the BIOS

well guys, i cant find any faults in anything through tests... the only bonus is the GPU has dropped off the list... i thought that would have been the culprate.. it now reads like this:

Random Access Memory (RAM)
System board
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Power supply

but interestingly enough i just got another BSOD, as usual the first one for a couple of days but this one had a new BSOD before the BSOD with all the data, it was only 2 lines of text and flashed up so quickly the only words i read where '**hardware failure..' and then after a split second i was on the standard BSOD screen, rebooted my machine and then it tells me the Asus Express gate is not installed, booting into OS...

so im off to reboot my PC and see if the express gate is still their or not... if not i guess it could actually be the mobo

ive got new memory coming in a couple of days so when i can swap that out that should leave me with:

System board
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Power supply

360 died the other day aswell with RROD, i mean i havent had a single BSOD for sooo long and ive never had RROD before and my 360 is from launch so either karma is kicking my ass for something or im just really unlucky at the mo.... or both...

if i RMA it im not sure how they would re-create the BSOD because it seems very random once every 2-3 days, i suppose the error logs should be on the computer somewhere though, although im not sure if shops use that to solve problems or if its just MS.

anyway, ive had my BSOD for today im off to play Crysis.
