Im getting random BSOD's lately, i did a bit of google searching for a clue of whats going on and how to fix it, but cant seem to find an explanation to fit my description.

Running Windows Vista Home Premium x64

system_service_error

stop: 0x0000003B (blah blah a load of zeroes...)

anyway.. screenshot here:

i did a memory test and a hard drive test in my system bios, because this HP laptop seems to have this function, zero errors.

i've got event viewer up.. but i've not used it before, should i be looking out for something?

EDIT:
found this? would this be related?

Bug Check 0x3B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
The SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000003B. This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Try updating your video driver, the disk errors look dodgy too, as both the stop error, and the event viewer mention a paging opertaion.

hmm im on the nvidia beta drivers... for laptop, they give a better frame rate in games compared to the previous drivers, but i'll try downgrade it now.

how would i fix the disk errors?

I had that one alt-tabbing out of the original half life last week.

I think its the nvidia drivers (try some different ones)

The disk is only a warning, not critical. It is probably due to the BSOD stopping the paging suddenly, hence the error.

beta drivers = not oficially released product = computer goes wierd.

Stick to a release one, and see how that works.

Uninstall vista, install XP - everything works on that ;-)

That's probably a corrupt driver, tried installing some older graphics ones? Try unistalling, reboot into safe mode and run something like driver cleaner, then reinstall some older graphics card drivers. If that doesn't work, it might be a hardware fault.

damn it lol... dont really want to go back to any older drivers as they make my frame rates so sluggish :(

downloading : Nvidia DOX drivers 181.22 hope they work

think i've had two of those 0x0000005 dumps so far, i'll look into the debugging stuff later, just wanted a simpler way to sort it :p
