when i OC my CPU, even a little, on my P5K-E and freezer 7 pro, when i game, i get random driver_irql bsods, linking to ATI drivers, but it only happens when i OC the CPU no GPU. but when i leave thibngs to auto, non clocked, it wont do it. im sure its not heating up, and i ahve cleaned the cooler.

i put volts at 1.3625 on my BIOS, and under load (on CPUZ) it fluctuates between 1.336 and 1.344.

my NB is set to 1.4 and RAM is 1:1 at 375 at 4 4 4 12 at 2.1

and my multi is 8.

my PSU is a second hand tagan 430W U15.

i have done memtest for over 5 hours with about 7 passes (twice)

so i am sure its not a ram problem. i have swapped gfx cards, and still get it, and switched to nvidia and get it with nvidia driver equivelent.

my pcie frequency is set to 100, but eevn if i set it to 110 it still happens.

, i have also tried it with 1.4Vs at Vcore, and 1.55 at NB, but still happens. i have loosened my timings to 555 15 and still nothing.

ram is set to 2.1

Front side bus hole ? try a different higher fsb somewhere in the back of my mind is a fsb hole issue with the P5K-E
what cpu is it and whats the multi ? lower your multiplier and try a higher fsb

that what i thought, but with a P5K-E i didnt expect it. and it would happen over 200Mhz. so ANY FBS above stock.

then my brother told me, that a few days ago he took the cooler off to clean the dust, but this time did not re-seat the HS with thermal paste becuase we had run out (he is 12, and knows a lot about PCs, OCing etc, so i wasnt angry with him)

so i just bought some OCZ freeze, and when i re-seat the CPU ill check the temps and clock up.

right now on stock everything, i am idleing 40/43 (core 0 and 1)

Yes but a fsb hole can be big you need to try more than just a few numbers like how about try 430 fsb 420 390 etc etc
and also check boards could be a bios issue with a certain bios

ok well if the thermal paste does not cure this, i will go through the BIOSes.

i have tried so far:

210

250

300

333

345

350

360

380

385

390

395

400

405

410

apart from 200, the rest are not working anymore.

what make of RAM are you using? I would check you have the correct voltage set for it... if its rated at 2.1-2.3 for example up it to 2.3..

Set the PCI-E to 101
Ensure that Transaction Booster Is Disabled

If that doesnt work...

Set the RAM to Really loose timmings 5-5-5-23

Run Prime/Orthos Small FFT's keep an eye on the temps.. if this fails then its 99% a lack of voltage on the CPU

If that passes then do the same on a Blend Test and see what happens...

Try changing the ram timings to 5 5 5 15, what cpu do you have ? what make ram have you got?

Try looking on the Asus forums to see if there is a known problem like yours with simalar hardware.

i am running corsair XMS2 PC 6400 CL4.

on the sticker on the ram i have its rated to run at 444 12 at 2.1Vs. i did this, and kept a 1:1 ratio, so it never exceeded 800MHz, and i even loosed the timings to 555 15, and increaced the V to 2.2

even at 250 I tired 1.4 on the Vcore (IMO my Vdroop is huge) and it still has the errors.

i have tired the PCIE at 100 and each incrememnt to 120, no help.

traction booster in diasbled.

and i have an E2140.

as for temps, when idle in windows, i am getign about 40/43 (for core 0/1) and under orthos and OCCT i am getting into the mid 60s.

well i know it OCs jsut fine as the the person who i bougth it of (cob) had it at 1.45V at 3.45GHz under water.

well i reseated with OCZ freeze. before under stock i would ide abotu 40, now under idle at 3.0ghz i am idling about 35.

i clocked up to 3Ghz at 1.4, and ram at 999 at 555 15 with 2.2Vs (which is stock 800) and it still did it. one fan on the RAM/NB (which were too hott to touch) has eradicted the probelsm along with the ocz freeze.

the nb is a little hot btu the ram cool :)

thanks guys for all the help, now to push it massively.
