Hi guys,

I just recently built a new system and I'm getting random BSOD's. The message says "pfn_list_corrupt" but google isnt really helping me much....

System:

i5 760 @2.8GHz
Corsair Dominator 1600MHz 2x2GB DDR3 (CMD4GX3M2A1600C9)
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4
XFX 5770 XXX Edition
WD Velociraptor 300GB
WD Caviar Green 1TB x2
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB
Hitachi 2TB
Antec 850W Quattro PSU

Running on Windows 7 64bit

All drivers are upto date and I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version.

I have the Akasa Venom CPU Heatsink and fan which means I cannot access DIMM 1. So I am using DIMM 2 and DIMM 4.

I am currently trying each memory module individually in DIMM 4 at the moment, first module seemed ok and no BSOD, just waiting to see what happens with this second module.

Oh, and I ran Prime95 for about 6 hours the other night with both modules, and no issues. Although when installing windows I did BSOD....

I have the dumps, in a zip file here. I dont know how to read them but your welcome to give me some insight...

Any help would be much appriciated!

Thanks all!

Matt.

I havnt had any blue screens for a while (24 hours). But during that time I did some playing.

The system does not post with a single module in DIMM 1 (Gigabyte manual says DDR3_2) or DIMM 3 (DDR3_4). The board just makes short fast continous beeps and does not post.

A module in DIMM 2 (DDR3_1) or DIMM 4 (DDR3_3) results in a post.

A module in DIMM 1 and DIMM 2 result in post. (Single channel)

A module in DIMM 3 and DIMM 4 result in a post. (Single channel)

A module in DIMM 1 and DIMM 3 does not post. (Dual channel)

A module in DIMM 2 and DIMM 4 result in a post. (Dual channel)

I'm currently running memtest86+ to see if anything comes up.

This is all a bit confusing to me. I hope everyone is able to understand what I've wrote!

Just to clarify.

Mobo: Gigabye GA-P55A-UD4

DIMM 1 (DDR3_2)
DIMM 2 (DDR3_1)
DIMM 3 (DDR3_4)
DIMM 4 (DDR3_3)

Thanks,
Matt.

Not too sure how much I can help, but I'm thinking about buying this motherboard (also looking at the same CPU and memory), so am interested in the outcome.

On my Gigabyte mobo (fair enough an older P35 board). "Continuous short beeps" says "power error". But this sounds a little odd in this case.

If the memory tests OK, I would start to suspect the mobo myself. But there may be someone with more experience than my good self, that can offer more help.

Good luck.

PS. Excuse me for stating the obvious. But have you tried the usual (IE. select default settings in BIOS, clear CMOS and maybe try removing the battery for 10 mins, are you running the latest BIOS?). All worth a go, if only because it costs nothing to try. Just noticed you say that you already have the latest BIOS (sorry).

Having tried good old GOOGLE like you. It would appear that most errors relating to "pfn_list_corrupt" are memory related. Though I can see pretty much everything else blamed for this error as well (what's new here in PC land!).

As well as MEMTEST86+ and PRIME95 - blend, have you tried Windows 7 own memory test? In my experience, it can sometimes take absolute ages to highlight a memory fault with these sort of software tests (though not always). I would try maybe 12/24 hours and see what gets thrown up.

If all else fails, I would suggest giving the retailor a phone (especially if OCuk) and seeing what they say.

If within 7 days (DSR) you could always return your RAM and try something else.
