Its only just recently started happening to me. After my PC has been on a few hours I notice some things on windows seem to be slightly more choppy and unresponsive as I'm used to. For example: moving a window from one side of the screen to the other becomes really choppy as if my PC is under an intensive load. Another example would be just highlighting text with the cursor has a 1-2 second delay.
These problems wouldn't bother me but its gaming that's impossible to do. Loading up games in this state is fine, but when it comes to playing them I have about 3-5fps max I would say. The game menus are laggy and choppy as well.
At first I thought my CPU was going to be under intense pressure but on inspection theres no programs that seem to be causing me any problems and on idle in windows I have no outstanding CPU usage.
The annoying thing is a restart fixes all my problems but obviously it appears again after awhile.
Things I've tried:
- Checked CPU usage and temperatures - Fine
- Checked GPU temperature - Fine
- Cleaned out dust from my heatsinks in both CPU and GPU
- Closed down all my programs when the problem arises and no change.
If I could pin point what the problem is I'm sure it would be a easy enough fix but it seems as if something triggers it after a certain time but I can't put my finger on it. Argh
