Random Computer Behaviour

I have my FX55 @ 2.8ghz and my X1800 at stock and i experiance issues such as.....

1.) screen will go black for 2 seconds and then reapear but the moniter does not switch off or go on standby.
2.) Blue screens during video play back , its occassional though.
3.) Reventing back to desktop in need for speed most wanted with no messages just flicks back very fast to desktop.
4.) Quake 4 artifacts and distortion and crashing
5.) No overclocking ability on my GPU's memory at all

any ideas what these problems can be?

Download ATITool and the 3dMarks and test that your graphics card isn't producing artifacts at stock speeds.

2) Driver problem by the sound of it, might be worth looking at the latest motherboard software/drivers, updating XP and grabbing a decent codec pack/player.

3) Grab the latest ATI drivers and install them. Check for Need for Speed patches and apply the latest. Hopefully this'll solve that problem.

It may also be a PSU or RAM problem. Download Memtest86 (Google it) and burn an ISO image. Run it for a couple of hours at least to check that your memory is happy.

You say your PSU is 600W, but don't say 'what' PSU it is. What is it?

run occt and check the voltage you getting on the 3 and 12 rails, if large differences seen then it could be that.
