... or not

The wife was complaining that sometimes the computer would not switch on, which lead to me initially thinking the PSU needed to be RMA'd so I connected the basics to my old PSU and everything worked. Hooked everything back up to the new PSU and it worked... so I resorted to occasionally turning off the PSU at the mains and it switched on just fine.

But I was still considering RMA'ing the PSU however for the past week I have been switching the computer on in the morning from the power button only and it works just fine without any messing around.

Is it possible the wife is just unlucky or is she generating more static electricity thats tripping out a thing in the PSU?

I have recently upgraded the Memory (from 4GB of PV memory) and PSU (from a 7 year old 600W). My set up is the following:

POV GeForce GTX 470
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (not OC'd)
Windows 7
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB
OcUK Crusade 850W PSU
x2 500GB Sata 3Gb drives in RAID
x2 320GB Pata drives in RAID
x1 DVD burner
in an old Antec P180 case

She can't be passing on static by pressing a plastic button. The lead goes to the mobo not the PSU.

But get rid of the OCUK PSU.

Thats what I though regarding the static electricity... but I have never had a problem, its only her and we are pressing the same button.

as no one has come up with anything else I'll treat it as a godsend as it means she stays away from my computer from now on as she is getting a netbook for christmas :D
