Bit of a story behind this, however, Whilst playing CoD4 last night, my system crashed, initially it froze, with the sound "skipping", then the screen when into some kind of grey, vertical gradient lines. I also heard a fan spinning up, extremely loud, obviously at full speed.

I assumed this was the graphics, so I rebooted, windows update installed a few bit's it had pending, machine came up, Intel Storage Manager decided it had to "Verify and Repair" my Raid5 array, with and estimated 14 hours, I went to bed and left it to it.

However, I came to my machine this morning, heard the same fan at full speed, the computer, unresponsive.

I managed to find out it was a blue screen that caused this, but cannot find what the blue screen displayed.

Any ideas?

Ok, so this happened again today whilst I was at work. I came home to a black screen, and the graphics card fan running at full pelt. I've disabled ati-overdrive, but if the machines sitting idle, the overclocking of the card shouldn't make a difference, should it? I had only clocked it in 3D.

I ran the machine at 3.7ghz for over a week no problem, tested it with hotcpu and it was stable after 2-3 hours, no errors. I've now clocked back down to 3.6ghz and reduced voltage to suit, the thing that confuses me, that I hadn't changed anything for a long while before this started happening.
