I built a new system with the following:-

i5 4670k
8GB DDR3 Corsair stuff
MSI Z78 G45
780GTX

Recently (although it might have happened from the start and i've not noticed it) the system will restart by itself. No warning, the system will simply be running one second and i'll come back and find it at the login screen.

It's also started to stop booting now and will freeze at both the Windows 8.1 and 7 animated logo screen.

I have gotten it to boot by removing a stick of memory so that the board resets the bios. Temps aren't an issue and i've tried both memory sticks and they seem fine. Prime 95 will run for a good period although it has restarted before with even stock settings.

Have reverted to an older BIOS and still the issue occurs.

Any ideas?

It also only seems to happen when the system isn't doing much, ie. not gaming.

Running a test on my Samsung 840 EVO 256GB drive shows that i'm only getting Random Read IOPS of 60,000 when it should be 90,000. Could it be an SSD issue?

That's all fine.

Pointing towards a memory issue as when the system refuses to boot, I simply pull the 1 stick out of one slot and into another and it boots fine?

Got to go to OcUK tomorrow anyway, will buy some ram while i'm there and see if that sorts the issue out.

Have you ran memtest or any other such application for any period of time? Checked memory timings/voltage on your bios?

Changed timings, tried default chip settings and higher timings, voltage is correct at 1.65v

Haven't run memtest but good call, will try that. Memory worked fine in the previous system though, no crashes at all there.

Found the issue, it's my Asus wireless card - PCE-AC66. Isn't compatible with Haswell apparently.
