Random crashes on new AMD build

I recently built a new PC with the following components:

And I'm using an optical drive from an old build.

However, upon building it and installing the OS (Windows 7 64 bit) I came across a couple of problems.

1.) Despite drivers being installed and reinstalled, made sure they were for the correct operating system, reinstalled again, then reinstalled again for good measure, the ethernet cable is not recognized as being plugged into the motherboard LAN socket. There is no light from the socket when the cable is plugged in. I'm sure it's not the network or the cable as when I use an old PCI LAN card it works fine. Is it possible the motherboard LAN connector could be dead?

2.) I'm experiencing random crashes. They happen about an hour into the PC being turned on, normally during a fairly intensive task, i.e copying a huge amount of files, playing a game, etc. Could this be due to the power supply being too weak?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this - I couldn't find a troubleshooting forum and just assumed this would be the place.

Well i would say that the motherboard is dead and you should return to OC, The psu is fine and your problems may lie with the motherboard once again,
Off Topic:How do you find the Akasa case as i am thinking of one for a pc for my dad.
Thanks

Thanks for your help.
Is there any way I can confirm it's the motherboard that's causing the crashes?
The PC works fine apart from the crashes and the LAN socket. It would be annoying to disassemble everything and RMA the motherboard only to find out it was something else.

The Akasa case is okay - a little less roomy than I would have liked, but for £17 you can't complain. One thing I did find when I was installing the PCI LAN card was that the bracket on the card extended down beyond the motherboard, and there was no room for it so I had to remove the bracket. Definitely worth what you pay though.

You could always try a bios update for the nic. As for the stability, you could try memtest/prime95 to see how it holds up.

I tried using primetest, however when I tried to run it I get the following error -
[Nov 9 22:56] FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
[Nov 9 22:56] Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.

Anyone know what this means?

The stress.txt file is just a general guide to stability testing.
The thing is im pretty cautious to RMA it with overclockers because on top of delivery they charge a tenner for any part they can't find a fault with. I'd rather be able to isolate where the problem is coming from.

they shouldnt be able to charge. Overclockers may not find a fault, but it doesnt mean there isnt a fault. Anyway its not up to them to find the fault, they should send it back to the manufacturer for them to diagnose
