I have an ATI Radeon X300 SE (old I know) I have updated to the latest drivers (Catalyst 8.6) and now when I try an play games, even basic ones like TimNations Forever, it crashes out and 'ATI VPU Recover' comes up and says the VPU has stopped responding to commands from the driver

It only has a small heatsink on it. but before I got the new drivers It has never crashed. could be a driver prob or temperature prob?

I cannot get temps as it is a dell and they don't provide such luxuries.

has anyone else had this problem woth the drivers and/or card?

thanks in advance

If the crashes only started to occur since you updated to Catalyst 8.6's then Why not roll back to the older driver?

To do so, go to start > run, and then type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotation marks).

Now double click on display adaptors > right click ATI X300 series > properties > driver > roll back driver :)

Might be worth noting last week I was using an X300se along with Cat 8.6's and never had any probs with crashing.

I could even play COD 4 at 640x480, all lowest setting at about 12fps. :p
