Evening all. Starting tonight my PC seems to have started crashing for no reason that I can think of at least. It happens without warning and when it does crash I can still hear some sound for a little while. But the screen goes black(the last time was yellow) with white vertical lines.

There is no reports in windows/minidump what so ever, the first time it happened I was on maybe my 3/4 round of Battlefield 3 at about 8:30 this evening. Thinking it was a random no reason crash I went off to play Guild wars 2, where the problem has since happened 5 more times over the evening.

Ive run core temp and Msi afterburner to check my cpu/gpu are not over heating, I have reinstalled the latest AMD graphics drivers and also set point as I had a new mouse yesterday but have since swapped back to my old one(G700->G500). I never changed my set point software when i started using the G700 but still reinstalled just incase.

Ive also removed the overclock I have had on my board for nearly two years without missing a beat and am now at a loss to my next step, any help would be great as my inner rage is getting closer to the surface and i may be shortly taking it out on my pc .

Windows 7 64 Bit
Intel Core i7 920
Radeon 6970 (HIS IceQ)
6Gb Ram
Crucial M4 64GB
Corsair HX 650w

EDIT: I did update my gpu drivers to the latest one's on Friday but didnt then use my pc much till yesterday.

I have rolled back my graphics card drivers to 12.6 and managed about 90minutes of Guild wars 2 today till this happened. It does not seem to have helped. I stayed up till 3am trying to find a solution last night but no joy it seems.

Should I roll back to maybe 12.4 or a different one to see if that is more stable, does anyone thing it could be something other than my graphics card that I'm yet to try ?? Or even that it might have nothing at all to do with my drivers?? Any suggestions gratefully received..

I'm having the exact same issue, though less frequently than you it seems. It has only started since playing GW2. Seems fine if I run a stress test in furmark. Temperatures are normal.

I also have a 6970, so am wondering if it's possibly just an issue with the card needing a new driver?

Hi Eldion, a friend suggested limiting the frame rate to 60 in the options and since doing this it has not crashed again for the last few days. Hopefully that can help you too.

I used to have a similar problem to this before which was caused by Raeltek drivers, maybe give that a look. Hope your problem gets fixed :(
