Hiya, Iv'e only just thought of asking here, now I have Vista 64 bit and we have a router with3 pcs connected to it. Now every now and again my net will just drop yeh it will still say its connected in the bottom right and in network sharing centre etc, now if i take out the cable from the back of the pc and replace it connects again straight away. Iv'e tried unticking IPv6 and also disabling the hardware firewall(router) and i'm just a bit stuck really, does anyone have anyideas of what might sort this problem out, any help most appreciated thanks.

Router make/model?

& checked its web page for any latest firmware update that might address the problem?

If its only affecting 1 machine, also check for latest drivers & or BIOS updates

IMO seems a fairly old ADSL router, maybe could be on its way out  Time for a upgrade (here) ;)

Other than that, have you tried another Ethernet cable?

Hye first of all thanks for the replies, just checking out ebay to try an ethernet cable as the other machines are working fine with it :/ not really sure what im looking at though, aslong as its called Ethernet Cable it willl be ok or...? do they have models etc

Longest OcUK seem to stock is 30m (see here). Other places/shops (competitor therefore can't mention them) will stock longer cables i.e. bulk & you can even order the exact length that you need
