Random error??? Wouldn't boot

Hey all,

Randomly today, my computer screwed up on me whilst running normally. I shut it down, but it wouldnt turn off completely so i held the power button down till it did. Later on it wouldnt boot. screen wouldnt come out of stand by. 3 attempts later it all boot ssafely but at original stock speed (C2D E4300).

Everytime my motherboard doesnt like my settings it goes back to stock (fair enough). But i've been running this setting nicely for a month and now it screws up?

C2D E4300
DS3
Geil Ultra 1GB
Nvidia 7600GT

Vcore was at 1.325V (bios normal)
FSB Overvoltage 0.1v
Vdimm 0.3 overvoltage and manually set timings to 4 4 4 12
FSB 300mhz
multipiler x9

These sound OK (its back to stock now @ 1.296V in CPU-Z)?

Any thoughts?

It could be any number of settings your pc don't like tbh. Have you stressed you pc to see if it is stable i.e 12hr orthos run?

I did it for two hours on orthos priority 5. Haven't done it extensively as didn't have the time.

I will do it now to make doubly sure. By the way what priority level do you think is a good test of a systems stability?

If you are using the pc at the time then use priority 8 or 9 (high), if your pc is idle i.e overnight then priorty 1-3 (low) is fine.

If you are sure its stable then I would start looking towards a hardware problem such as the psu - was your pc under stress at the time of the reset e.g gaming/benchmarking/encoding?

no it was just normal usage. i have done the overclock again and its all working fine. What did happen though is that I had momentarily tuned off my Adwatch monitor and forggot it was off then all this crap started appearing which caused it to freeze. so i had to do a manual power off.

it all seems fine now anyway, will do the orthos and make sure its fine. I did 2 hours on orthos priority 4 and it seemed OK temps went up to around 39 degrees at load 30 on idle
