Hi

My computer has started to freeze randomly from boot. This will happen in bios, login screen or shortly after login. Even froze in safe mode.

Searching for ideas of what it can be brings up RAM, Mobo, PSU and CPU.

Memory diagnostic brought up no errors. Have tried both sticks on thier own and still happens.

The PSU is a 620w corsair. It is a bit old but as far as i know is working and powerful enough.

I have never messed with bios settings, no recent hardware installs or driver upgrades.

Had a mobo problem in the past and had to change it once. Was a pain and would like to avoid that.

Have backed up most essentials that I can.

I have no other machine that I can test bits on.

Ideas are welcome of what you would try next. Thanks.

what ssd? id be looking at that or memory/voltage related if its freezing

try clearing the cmos(this will wipe any bios/oc settings to default) so make a note of them beforehand

I installed an SSd about a year ago. Have had no issues with it.

I have not messed with memory timings or done any overclocking but will clear the CMOS tomorrow and see what happens.

I had some other issues leading up to this. Sometimes when I would log in the program's wouldn't open. I also had some BSOD errors that were non page faults. Didn't think much of it at the time.

Ok
Cleared CMOS and after an initial freeze was able to login and it didn't freeze immediately.

Ran a few program's and was doing fine. Then whilst on minecraft it froze. Now the programme was still running but keyboard and mouse didn't work.

Have looked at voltages and can't see anything out of the ordinary there.

What can consistently cause a mouse and keyboard failure?

Changed the USB ports that I was using for keyboard and mouse.

So far so good although it has only been about 30mins.

Can it be that simple?
