Hi guys just wondered if any of you have come across this issue with this processor.

This is just one site of many reporting this issue

http://openelec.tv/forum/90-miscellaneous/73005-random-freezes-on-amd-kabini-platform

Though it's happening to me on Windows 7 as well. I have tried everything but still getting random freezes then PC either shutting down or I have to manually keep hold of the power button to shut it down.

The only thing I haven't tried is Windows 8 but that means me purchasing something I'm not willing to use.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah the stock cooler is very quiet and keeps it really cool at the lowest setting.

I actually put up the wrong motherboard in the link in my 1st post I have this

AMD Athlon 5350
Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 4GB (1x4GB)
Asus AM1I-A

I have installed Openelec 4.97.2 today and it seems ok upto now, though I do have windows 10 to test if it starts playing up again.

Well I spoke to soon had it freeze on me 3 times today then it didn't freeze when watching 3 42mins programmes.

Just installed windows 10 will see how I get on with that.

Looking at when it does freeze to me it seems it's only happening in the 1st 40mins of when you power up which comes to make me think it's some kind of cold boot issue and when the processors warmed up it seems fine.

I have now tried 5 operating systems all have froze when watching video files the system is completely fine doing anything else.

openelec - 4.2.1 = froze 3 times in 1 hour
openelec - 4.97.2 = froze once in 2 hours
windows 10 = froze after 4 hours, but was also too buggy
windows 8.1 = froze after 76mins
Linux mint 17.1 = lasted the longest 3hrs 8mins before it froze.

I haven't got any other memory to try but the memory has been tested m8 and no errors were found.

Surely if there was a problem with the memory the system would be unstable when doing anything else.

This to me seems to be either the processor or motherboard.

I'll have to have a look at the model number of this kingston ram in a bit, just looking at those timings on the memory list it looks like the fury set isn't on there.

The set I have

I have also just upped the voltage to 1.55 see if that helps.

It's just weird that everything works perfect when not watching videos no freezes at all I have even ran several testing tools from a certain boot cd which found nothing.

I have also ran several stress test tools none failed.

The only problem is when watching mp4 & mkv files the PC just freezes which is annoying. Sometimes the video stops but the audio carries on then suddenly you get an high pitch buzzing sound. I only noticed on Windows 8.1 that the PC froze for about a second then it actually rebooted itself none of the others did this.

Anyway I have upped the voltage of the ram to 1.55v last night I watched 2 x 45mins episodes without an issue.

Tody the wife has watched 2 films and 3 x 45mins tv shows and it hasn't froze once so hopefully giving it a bit more juice might have stopped the issue.

Yes m8 it does seem it might be a voltage issue so I'm going to up it again to 1.6v and see if that does anything. I'm getting there slowly just that it's been a pain well more annoying.

If not then I might have to change this ram.
