Random Freezes

hi, ive been getting Random freezes lately open when ive finished been playing a game like carbon, BF2, BF2142 etc and its usually when im playing music so it just starts doing the same sound over and over then it will stop for a split second and start again. And the only sure is to reboot. Specs are as followed.

AMD 3500+ (Stock cooler)
Asus a8n-SLI se
2gb Geil
80gb hd
MSI 7900GTO 512
Hiper 580 type R

If im correct ive heard of similar stories and of it being the CPU overheating, so after it happens ive checked my CPU temp and it seems to be idling around 40c and about 49c+ Under load.

Have you tried playing your music in a different media player? And updating your graphics drivers?

I'd check the mobo chipset fan is still spinning ok, the PSU voltages are within spec under load and aren't massively dipping when you get the "crash" and run manufacturers diagnostics on the hard drive.

As far as i can see the chipset fan is running fine but is partially covered by my 7900GTO cooler. How to check out the PSU Voltages and stuff to make sure its fine?

I would give updating your audio drivers a go first.

How to check out the PSU Voltages and stuff to make sure its fine?

You can use Asus probe on the motherboard CD or download it from their website http://support.asus.com

The disk you have to go to the manufacturer website and see if they have any tools available (for Seagate they have SeaTools).
