Hey all. Like the title says, I am experiencing what seems like random crashing after installing my new AMD FX 8320 (I will list my other computer parts at the end). I do not know what is causing this. It started when I had Windows 7 installed. I wanted to get Windows 8 anyway, so I reformatted my computer to that and its still doing the same thing so its cant be software related can it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 Pro
CPU: AMD FX 8320
GPU: AMD R9 290
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz
PSU Corsair RM750
(Forgive me if I left something out)

I got the new BIOS before I installed the new CPU, I'm just after clearing the BIOS via the CMOS battery, I also reseated the CPU, took out the RAM and GPU while I was at it. If it happens again is there anything else I can do?

Power supply? Can you test it in another pc?or use a psu tester gadget?
Can you test the new cpu in another pc?
what cpu was originally in there?
Did it freeze with that cpu?

Sounds like a RAM/PSU problem to me - are you using 2x4GB sticks? It might be some CPU/RAM conflict (unlikely, but can happen.)

Yes, I am using the 1604 version. My Rams 4x2gb sticks. I looked online before I got the CPU to see if they would be compatible and and the CPU supports up to 1866mhz. is there anyway to test it to see if there is a conflict?

My RAM is the Kingston Hyper X Genesis 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/4GX)

Hmm you should probably let Asus know so others will maybe be able to fix the same problems you are having :)
