Hi,

recentry when i play garrys mod (hl2 mod) or richard burns rally my computer freezes up with a really short sound looping.
i have overclocked my computer slightly and that maybe the problem.
CPU' E6300 400* 7 3.5v
ram ; corsiar XMS DDR2 1045*2 PC5400
4-4-4-12
GFX: HIS X1600XT not overclocked
mobo: asus P5W DH deluxe

here am i feeding my CPU enough power? my CPU temp (according to PC probe) is 36 at idling.

iv ran SP for an hour and half and my CPU did fine.

the game crash happens about 30 mins in on g mod and with richard burns rally its more random and happens rarely.

i have the 1201 bios for mobo.

EDIT. i just ran directX diagnostic tool and its telling me the file "system.dll" is missing. im just reinstalling dx9 now and hopefully this will help.

I guess its 1.35v not 3.5v... :)

Few things: try reinstalling GFX card drivers, and also lowering the settings within the game.

Checked GFX card temps?

yeah 1.35 :o . done all now to test the game

Have you got the FSB Termination and/or MCH voltages raised as well ? I found that although my PC was pretty stable for most things (eg SuperPi, Prime) it would often die in something like 3DMark if I didn't give a little more juice to said items.....for me, I have the MCH @ 1.60v and FSB termination @ 1.3v.....

just changed to 1.55. i dont see any difference in CPU temp but i dont feel like raising it anymore without reassurance.
Iv never messed with them before

You could be getting that message because of a .NET installation. If so, you'll still be get the "missing system.dll" message after the re-install, even though the file is actually there.

Apparently, you can cure it by deleting this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX\ManagedDirectXVersion?
