random graphics problem

hey guys

i recently had to do a wipe and new install of windows
ever since i have a intermittant problem when i am playing guild wars the game takes ages to load new areas and generally running very slow
when i close the game i find my gpu stuck at 99 % load and stays that way till i restart system
i also have latest drivers installed
hope someone can help

specs= cpu=i7 930
board = gygabyte ga-x58a
gpu = asus hd 5870
intel x25 80g ssd

Is GPU usage normal before opening the game? After you exit the game have you checked task manager and see if the game is still running?

yes gpu usage is normal before playing
yes i have checked task manager and all seems ok

I assume you looked for the game exe in the Processes tab? Not sure how GPU usage would still be up if the game is closed most odd......

have just played guildwars again till fault occured
have checked task manager and all clear
gpu is stuck at 99% load
